Chipped front teeth and uneven biting edges

Teeth grinding and the ageing process are major factors that cause excessive stress and wear that leads to chipping of our front teeth. The moment the edges of front teeth start to chip it is impossible to hide and immediate help is needed. Our front teeth are the first thing we show when we speak or smile. It goes without saying that any defects or abnormalities will be revealed instantly and unfortuanely we cannot hide this. Trauma, normal daily 'wear and tear' and ageing all contributes to chipping and uneven biting edges.
Cosmetic dentistry can help to restore the shape and length of your teeth. Even if you have a near perfect smile, but 1 tooth is slightly chipped or uneven, that can be enough to let you go through life with a tight-lipped smile.

A) Treatment:
First we will look at the 9 different treatment options  we use in Cosmetic Dentistry, and decide when and what options to apply. Our main goal is to be conservative and minimally invasive. A good teeth cleaning and then possible teeth whitening will be the start before trying to match any possible restorative work.
Treatment options for chipped and 'uneven' teeth:
(From least invasive to most. Sometimes a combination is necessary.)

B) Our unique case:
Our patient opted for some teeth whitening  and composite bonding to reshape the 6 front teeth. This was all done in just 1 session. Notice that the edges of the teeth are too close together and still need to be opened more to prevent the 'straight line' appearance. The laterals also needed to be shortened, but the patient wanted this 'straight' look and it was decided to leave the teeth like this for 1 week and then to follow up. The patient also needed a night guard to protect her teeth during sleep from chipping and further grinding.
