Front Teeth are Too Long or Too Short
The colour, width, shape and length of your front teeth play a crucial role in defining your smile! Longer front teeth are often associate with youthfullness, but too long is also a smile stopper. Similair if the front teeth are too short then you might appear to look older due to a worned smile or a longer upper lip. Our front teeth are the first thing we show when we speak or smile. It goes without saying that any defects or abnormalities will be revealed instantly and unfortuanely we cannot hide this.
Cosmetic dentistry can help to restore the shape and length of your smile. Even if you have a near perfect smile, but 1 tooth is slightly chipped or uneven, that can be enough to let you go through life with a tight-lipped smile.
A) Treatment:
First we will look at the 9 different treatment options we use in Cosmetic Dentistry, and decide when and what options to apply. Our main goal is to be conservative and minimally invasive. A good teeth cleaning and then possible teeth whitening will be the start before trying to match any possible bonding or veneer work.
Treatment options for teeth that are too long or too short:
Our patient opted for some teeth whitening and composite bonding to reshape the 6 front teeth. The 2 laterals were very small with a peg-shaped appearance that were also widened with composite bonding. This was all done in just 1 session. The patient also needed a night guard to protect her teeth during sleep from chipping and teeth grinding.
