What is our ABB treatment?

At our practice, we follow the ABB treatment philosophy, which stands for:

A – Alignment (using Clear Aligners)
B – Bleaching (professional teeth whitening)
B – Bonding (conservative cosmetic refinement)

This approach enables us to transform your smile in the most natural, non-invasive, and aesthetically pleasing way possible, without cutting or damaging your teeth.

Step 1: Alignment with Clear Aligners
We begin by gently and precisely aligning your teeth using custom-made, removable clear aligners. A clear aligner is a medical-grade plastic tray that is completely transparent, discreet, and fits snugly over your teeth. It resembles a bleaching tray, but is more rigid and specially engineered to move teeth gradually. These aligners are so discreet that even professionals such as TV presenters often wear them on-air without being noticed.

Clear aligners work by moving your teeth in small, controlled steps from their current position (point A) to their ideal position (point B). Each aligner is slightly different and applies gentle, targeted pressure to guide the teeth into the next planned position. You will wear each aligner for approximately two weeks, and then switch to the next one in the series. In some cases, we may place small, tooth-colored attachments on certain teeth to help the aligners grip more effectively and perform more complex movements such as rotations or tipping — all completely safe and comfortable.
To ensure your treatment stays on track, we typically see you in person after every fourth aligner. During these visits, we take a quick new scan to compare it to the digital treatment plan. This allows us to check if everything is progressing as expected and confirm that you’re wearing the aligners correctly and consistently.

Aligners are:
Comfortable – no brackets or wires
Removable – eat, drink, and brush as normal
Accurate – every step is planned digitally in 3D before we begin
Efficient – most treatments take between 6 to 12 months, depending on your case

Unlike traditional braces, Clear Aligners allow for better hygiene, fewer emergency visits, and the freedom to live your life without compromise.

Step 2: Bleaching (Teeth Whitening)
Once your teeth are beautifully aligned, we want to help you brighten your smile. As a complimentary part of your aligner treatment, we include professional teeth whitening gel that you can use with your final aligners.

This simple but effective whitening process enhances the natural beauty of your new smile and is a gift from us to celebrate your progress!

Step 3:
Bonding (Edge Refinement)
After your teeth are straight and white, we can refine any minor imperfections with composite edge bonding. This is a highly conservative cosmetic technique where we subtly reshape or enhance the edges of your front teeth using tooth-colored resin. There’s no drilling, no injections, and no harm to your natural teeth — just small, artistic improvements that make your smile look complete and harmonious.

Step 4: Retention: Keeping Your Smile in Place
At the end of your treatment, we’ll provide you with custom retainers — usually a fixed wire behind the lower teeth and a removable clear retainer for both arches. These help prevent relapse and maintain your results long-term.

What About Cost? (*2025 prices)
All depends on the individual case and the number of aligners needed to correct the misalignment.
We divide cases in:
Easy (up to 10 Aligners: +-R20 000),
Medium ( up to 20 Aligners: +-R40 000) and
Complex (up to 30 Aligners: +- R60 000).

* (Please note that we offer payment plans where you pay a 50% deposit upfront and then the balance over the time of your Aigner treatment. These prices are rough guidelines and applicable for 2025. For more accurate pricing, we have to see you for a consultation.)

Still, many of our patients tell us afterward that it was one of the best investments they’ve ever made — both personally and professionally. You’re not just fixing your teeth — you’re gaining confidence, oral health, and a radiant smile that lasts a lifetime. And with aligners being removable and transparent, your lifestyle remains uninterrupted.

If you’d like to take the next step, we’d love to invite you for a consultation where we can take a 3D scan of your teeth and show you a preview of what your new smile could look like. We’re here to help every step of the way!
