Teeth Whitening on CARTE BLANCHE
‘Whiter teeth, teeth whitening and pearly whites! It’s the latest must-have fashion trend – pearly whites that are whiter than white. The craze has swept across America, and quickly emigrated here, where the fabulously famous are having it done. ‘
Manysalons and spas also offer teeth whitening. These whitening procedures are usually not regulated and the customer is unaware of the potential problems.
Dr Cahi (dentist) was recently interviewed on Carte Blance and had the following to say about salon whitening:
‘There is also the thermo-chemical method a procedure done in spas and salons before a new law was passed. It is not recommended as it can cause dehydration and damage to the pulp of the tooth, and the tooth colour often reverts back several shades after a short while. ‘
Teeth whitening can offer great and amazing results, but care must be taken to first seek the help of a dental professional to see if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening. Many people have crowns, veneers or fillings on their front teeth that will not have any effect with teeth whitening. Very often these procedures must be redone after teeth whitening if the new colour do not match up. This can turn out to be a very costly exercise.
