Cleaning Clear Aligners
Keeping your MIA Clear Aligners clean is an important part of your treatment.
Clean aligners remain virtually invisible, smell fresh and help maintain healthy teeth and gums throughout your smile journey. Fortunately, cleaning your aligners only takes a few minutes each day.
✓ Clean Your Aligners Every Morning And Evening
Each morning and evening, gently brush your aligners using a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. This removes plaque and bacteria before they build up, helping to keep your aligners crystal clear throughout treatment.
Avoid using hot water, as excessive heat may distort the plastic and affect the precise fit of your aligners.
✓ Should You Use Toothpaste?
Many patients assume toothpaste is the best option, but this is not always the case. Some whitening or abrasive toothpastes may create tiny scratches on the surface of your aligners, making them appear cloudy over time.
A soft toothbrush with cold water is usually sufficient for everyday cleaning. If additional cleaning is required, we may recommend a specialised clear aligner cleaning solution.

✓ Prevent Staining And Bad Odours
Always remove your aligners before drinking coffee, tea, red wine, soft drinks or any coloured beverages. These drinks can stain the aligners and reduce their nearly invisible appearance. Any warm drinks or foods are also a big NO; otherwise, the Aligners will lose their shape and form.
Brushing your teeth before replacing your aligners helps prevent food particles and bacteria from becoming trapped against your teeth, reducing the risk of plaque build-up, bad breath and tooth decay.

Healthy teeth and clean aligners work together to create a confident smile.
